Enclosure No.6.
I. Au Hing. Police Constable No.143 in the Hong Kong Police Force, do solemnly and sincerely declare that in the autumn of 1894 orders were given to arrest Banishment Warrants the masters of, and principal persons engaged in conducting, the Fantan Houses in Cheung Hing Street, Kwai Wa Lane and Wing Lung Street. At that time the gambling house in Cheung King Street was not kept by Lam The. I was detailed with the Chinese majority of the detective staff to effect the arrest of all these gambling masters and their employees. Among the masters were Wong Kwok, Chan Man and Chan Sheung. These were all arrested and banished, some escaped to Sham Shui Po.
I and the rest of the Chinese detective staff thought it very odd at the time that 3 out of 5 Fantan houses should be entirely broken up.
